My demo, as the first person to try out the game on E3’s final day, was a lot more open than the Yakuza 6 showcase. However, with new story and gameplay additions, plus a silky smooth 60 FPS framerate, there’s still a lot that series fans have to look forward to with the last pre-Dragon Engine title. The step back to a game that was held back, graphically, by being a PS3 cross-play title in Japan, was stark. I got the chance to check this game out at E3 2017, a day after checking out Yakuza 6. Soon, Sega will release Yakuza Kiwami a PS4 re-imagining of the series’ debut. Five months ago, Yakuza 0 debuted, showing off the backstory of the series’ biggest characters in the 1980s. When it appeared as though Sega would leave their North American audience behind, 2017 has been about the beginnings of the Yakuza series. Yakuza Kiwami brings the franchise’s debut title to the PS4 with new content. The PS4 remake of the original Yakuza, titled Yakuza Kiwami, is due to launch next month, and SEGA has announced a pre-order bonus via the PlayStation blog.By Daniel George 5 years ago Sometimes, the best place to move forward is to go back to the beginning. I believe this one can only be achieved at either rank SS or SSS Majima Everywhere. The developer also clarified the inclusion of an interesting gameplay mechanic: Majima Everywhere. It happened twice to me on Pink Street (once on each end). Those who pre-order the game will now receive a PS4 theme for both Akira Nishikiyama and Kazuma Kiryu. Upon defeating Majima four times in mini-games or battles, Majima will appear at the M Store on Shichifuku Street after Kiryu inspects the magazine rack there. Majima Everywhere refers to a series of memes about the Yakuza Kiwami. The game is $29.99 as a digital purchase in NA.ĭetails of the Majima Everywhere mechanic were also detailed. Majima disguises himself in a variety of ways or hides in various places to ambush. Once you fill the Majima Everywhere Gauge, you'll receive a phone call from his subordinate, Nishida. Majima may be encountered at the following locations: The streets of Kamurocho - either walking down the streets, barging into street fights, hiding behind corners, under manholes, on rooftops, or hiding in objects such as giant traffic cones, trashcans, and car trunks. Majima is said to have taken it upon himself to train Kiryu, and the updated “everywhere” mechanic has the nutter popping up randomly throughout the game to keep Kiryu on his toes. Wandering around from the taller buildings in the Hotel District to the tight alleyways of the Champion District, youll find everything from slot car racing to. Nishida will indicate as to where you can find Majima for a challenge in order to advance in. Vincent - where he will challenge Kiryu to a game of darts and pool. He’s apparently a tough nut to fight, but players will want to make use of the opportunity as he presents an opportunity to gain special experience. The main motive of Majima is ultimately to reawaken the Dragon of Dojima, and he won't stop until Kiryu has finally awakened his latent abilities once and for all. Indeed, Kiryu’s fourth and most powerful fighting style, the Dragon of Dojima style, can only be levelled up by fighting Majima. Scott Strichart, a producer from SEGA added a caveat of intriguing information about Majima’s random appearances: The Majima Everywhere system features several secret encounters that are hinted at through messages sent by Nishida, one of Majima's subordinates. One more thing about the Majima Everywhere system: he’s rarely the same enemy twice. That’s right, he has all his battle styles previously featured in Yakuza 0, except they’re just as powerful as they were then, so do expect to get beat down with bats, break-danced into the ground, and of course, stabbed, shanked, and cut when he comes at you in Mad Dog style. Yakuza Kiwami launches August 29th on PS4.
